Buono Says: "I Told You So" Regarding Chris Christie Scandal

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Buono
During the November election season, state senator of New Jersey Barbara Buono was a democratic candidate to unseat governor Chris Christie in New Jersey.

At the time the common refrain in regards to Christie is that he was a big bully and a political intimidator.  Most of us dismissed this notion as another attack on a man with a little too much weight.  Barabara Buono was not only his opponent, she was one of those leveling the bully charge and appeared on a late night MSNBC show to declare that very thing.  The reason she knew was because Buono beat the trail trying to get donations for her campaign and she wasn't having success.  Not that plenty of people did not want to help,. but that donor after donor, even democrats, declared that they had to report any donation over $300 which would cause political retribution from governor Christie.

Tonight Buono reappeared on that same late night show to say.  "I told you so".  Apparently the Chris Christie that we are all discovering lately is one that New Jersey knows all too well.  His reputation is for showing up in the offices of city government to make his desires be known on matters that some have called too trivial for a governor.  What seemed like a low blow regarding a fat belly turns out to be a genuine weight gained by someone who worked to earn it.

For the most part, Christie did a good job in regards to his two hour confessional.  But when you look a little closer it is clear that he may have said more than he should have.  Christie made it clear that he did not know a thing before 8:50 or 8:55 on the day before  his press conference.  As long as nothing is on the record or squeezes from the cracks to dispute that January 8, 2014 at 8:50 is the true time that he learned of all of this than he may be home free.  The red line that he created on this level and a few others does not give him much flexibility for any deviation from the corner he backed himself into.

If his team actually did come clean several weeks ago when he insisted that the truth be told, Christie is probably the type of guy who would agree to keep his mouth shut until forced to pay the piper.  Today he had to pay the piper and it cost a few people their job or job opportunity.  While he might have been smart enough not to get his named mixed up into the road closure, it seems reasonable that he would have had to approve of it happening.  Assuming the governor's deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, had enough pull to shut down the busiest bridge anywhere on behalf of the governor without anyone questioning why, than the Port Authority and the New Jersey governors office both need to conduct internal investigations.  The other sacrificial lamb Bill Stepien, his former campaign manager who was being considered for a GOP Chair position, is now pleading the 5th before a legislative panel investigating this matter.

A lot of people may need to remain silent in this case.
